Being part of a volunteer organization is a choice you renew every day. Nobody is forced to be here. That is exactly why active engagement matters.
To be clear: this is not about deadlines, hours, or availability. We fully respect that people have jobs, families, and a private life that comes first. That is not up for discussion, and it never will be.
This is also not about EMGPRD or DFREMSS as organizations. It is about you ā the people who want to build something, who want to contribute. It comes down to one simple question: do you want to be part of real change, or not?
What we are asking for is something much smaller than “engagement” makes it sound. Reacting to a message. Writing a short “hello”. A thumbs up š. None of this takes more than a minute.
Slack is not a mailbox. It is the place where a team stays connected. When messages sit unanswered for days, it does not just slow work down ā it makes the people who took the time to write feel like they are talking to no one.
Engagement is not performance. It is presence. It shows you are still here, still part of this, even on the busy days.
I put in hours in the background that most of you never see ā building an active base, finding solutions that work for everyone, so that together we can create something of real, positive value. That is the work behind the work.
We ask one thing of every member: take a minute a day. Say hello š. React. Show us you are with us.
